ANDY HARDY MEETS DEBUTANTE(1940)

ANDY HARDY MEETS DEBUTANTE(1940)

This movie is also one of the episodes
in the "Judge Hardy's Family" series.

This is the 10th episode in the series
and also the 2th episode Judy Garland appeared. (Wikipedia)

Judge Hardy's family goes to New York
for judge Hardy's the issue of litigation.

However,
since Andy has bragged about his acquaintance
with Daphne Fowler, who is No.1 Debutante that
he actually has never met her before, to friends,
he worries about
how to prove his acquaintance with her.

So,
Betsy(Judy Garland) does her best
to help him solve the problem again
like she did
in "Love Finds Andy Hardy"

Now, can Andy solve the problem with Betsy well?

The Memorable Songs in the Movie
"Alone" by Judy Garland

When she sang this song
with tears in her eyes,
it made me feel sad
like Betsy felt in the scene.

I like this song the most
in this movie.

"I'm Nobody's Baby" by Judy Garland

Among all songs in this movie,
this song made the biggest hit.

While Betsy sings this song
on the stage,
Andy feels fascinated with her song
and I also felt the same with him.

It is just amazing that her ability to captivate
people's heart by such a charming voice.

Love Finds Andy Hardy(1938)*

LOVE FINDS ANDY HARDY(1938)

I got to know about this movie
because of Judy Garland.

I couldn't stop smiling
during the entire movie.

This movie is one of the episodes
in the "Judge Hardy's Children" series
and many people considered it as the best episode
in the series.

Also,
the movie was selected and preserved
in the United States National Film Registry
by the Library of Congress and it was labeled as
"culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
(by WIKIPEDIA)

In the movie,
Andy Hardy is loved by three girls at the same time.
Since he cannot take two girls to the big Christmas dance simultaneously,
he is in a catch-22 situation.
Betsy Booth, who is one of the three girls, also likes
Andy but he thinks she is just a child.

So, Betsy tries to be a more gorgeous and glamorous girl
so that he takes her to the Christmas dance!

Now, who would Andy choose?

The Memorable Song in the Movie
"In-Between" by Judy Garland

Betsy expresses her feeling of being
in between adults and children age by this song.
I like this song the most.
I cannot believe this song is sung
by such a young girl.
I can feel her emotion
that she wants to express and convey to audiences by this song.
Moreover,
I love her appealing voice.

 The Memorable Line

Betsy Booth(Judy Garland): "You know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna write
an Andy Hardy page in my memory book and read it every day for five years.
Cuz on account of you I was grown up for one night - just like Cinderella - with
an evening dress and high heels and leading a grand march! you see, Andy, now
I know how wonderful life's gonna be when I'm eighteen. And you did it all."

When I saw this picture for the first time,
I felt so impressed that I couldn't even take my eyes off
this imposing picture.
I was eager to get to know about someone who inspired me by this picture.
This was a work by Richard Avedon.

He defined and showed those three images of America.

Don't you feel the charisma and passion in his eyes?

Dovima.  She was a supermodel at the fifties
and worked with Richard Avedon a lot.
You can see her in many works by Richard Avedon.

I believe she was his muse
that could give him much inspiration.

This photograph is the most famous one among his pictures.
